Dissatisfaction with the current LTA Ratings system is caused by a number of reasons including the ease of improving and exploiting the LTA rating system, as well as lack of incentives to play more matches when the number of qualifying wins has been achieved as well as:

• Ratings do not reflect or match up to a players ability
• System can be exploited / manipulated
• No incentive to play more matches when rating is achieved
• Too easy to decrease a rating
• Rating system favours parents who can travel due to lack of competition
• Emphasis on winning rather than developing technique/improving your game
• It is just ‘too complicated’ to understand
• There is no equivalent rating system in doubles
